On the afternoon of May 28th, the closing ceremony of"2018 Official Seminar on Infectious Disease Prevention and Treatment" was held. Deputy Director Cao Jun presided over the closing ceremony. Director Yang Haitao delivered a speech and issued trainees certificates of completion, 62 participants in infectious disease management, technology and medical care from 15 developing countries along the Belt and Road Initiatives from Sierra Leone, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, South Sudan, Sudan, Jordan, Palestine, Maldives, Nigeria, Zambia, Panama, Bangladesh, Nepal and Uganda, attended the closing ceremony.

The number of participants in this seminar and the number of participating countries are quite large, since we undertook foreign aid training. The students are from Africa, Asia, the Americas and other countries and regions. The differences in living customs, food, and working hours are quite large. In addition, some students are in the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. For organization management, teaching, study and catering arrangements, it is also an opportunity to show the management of our institute.

During the training, we invited many experts from the Jiangsu Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention and our institute to teach the courses. They have both in-depth theoretical knowledge and abundant practical experience to teach the participants about the latest infectious disease prevention and control knowledge. The participants also went to the Jiangsu Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Changzhou Liyang City and other place to conduct on-site investigation to further understand the prevention and control strategies and measures for infectious diseases in China.

In addition, for the first time, the training course arranged for the participants to visit the Wuxi CDC and the Emergency Center, so that the participants learned about Wuxi's practices and achievements in the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases, and then visited the Center for Vector Biology, the central laboratory, the emergency center, dispatching command center, and watched the standard demonstration of emergency vehicles and protective clothing. The students also went to the Science Base of Jiangnan University to visit the unique design and art museum, the national costumes museum, the human science museum, and experienced the unique charm of Chinese language culture and Chinese tea ceremony, and went to Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou for visiting and learning about China's social and economic development.

This training course further expanded China's international influence. Most of the students came to China for the first time. They were very surprised by China's construction achievements. In just three weeks, foreign students have experienced the rapid development of China and witnessed the remarkable achievements China has made in the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. Through this training course, the participants not only learned about China's policies and experiences of infectious disease prevention and control, but also the current diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases such as AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and schistosomiasis, and new technical methods for vector control. The participants had a deeper understanding. By visiting the epidemic scene of relevant infectious diseases, the trainees will be able to understand the Chinese disease prevention and control system more intuitively, and achieve achievements in the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases and the research development of disease-resistant drugs. Through this training course, students from various countries jointly explored ways and means of technical exchanges and cooperation between China and other developing countries in the field of infectious disease prevention and treatment.

Since 2002, relying on the training center of the Ministry of Commerce, we have always adhered to the development philosophy of “Learn for Science and Education to Talent Cultivation”, strengthened cooperation with relevant colleges and universities, cultivate talents with an international perspective, and strived to build an international high-end talent training brand and to strengthen foreign cooperation, to enhance the capacity of foreign aid training services, and make contributions to the Belt and Road Initiatives.
